I’m beginning to have a lot more to say on my blog. Not a whole lot about things that matter but something, nonetheless. Today is probably something to say.

Well, you know down here in Georgia, the young fella made a motion to go in that school and act like he was gonna shoot it up. I really don’t know his real intentions. Folk are complex, know what I mean? Anyhow, I have a friend in that school. She said he busted up the window where the Pre-K class was, then went to the entrance (and you have to be buzzed in unless you’re slick and walk behind somebody) and made himself known.

She said folk keep asking how they got away. Have feet, will run. Plus, no bullets were shot from this fella’s gun, so that helped. Said a teacher had taken this one kid to the restroom and he said he wasn’t finished. She said, “You’re finished now!” and took that child and ran. Folks were running in the woods, she said. All this time, I thought she was still at the middle school working and come to find out, she was running for her life this week. You just never know, huh…

Used to be this kinda thing mostly happened at the post office. Not that any place is better for it to happen…

  1. It’s tragic what’s going on and I have a hard time understanding why they want to shoot other people, especially those who are most vulnerable. They should start with themselves first. Sorry… that was a bit heartless I suppose.

  2. It’s got to look different when you actually know someone who was there. It’s no good this thing that’s happening. And you’re right, it shouldn’t be happening anywhere.

  3. Clearly I live under a rock — and a big one at that.

This is the first I’ve heard this news, but I get the gist, because sadly, it has, indeed, become a trend.

Now I’ll head over to Google for the details.

  4. I love this line, Totsy: “Have feet, will run.” So true. Glad they could. Thrilled he didn’t shoot. I’m so sick of this but don’t get me started on what I think of the NRA. It’s too frustrating. BTW, I saw The Butler today. OMG it was fantastic and so emotional. I can’t tell you how many times I got teary. Wow.

    • I’m thrilled too. She also said they had the younger grades lined up with their hands on the shoulders of the person in front of them and teachers got them outta there.

Yes, it was an excellent movie that evoked a lot of emotions. Such talent for all involved in the making of it.

  5. You likely know my thoughts. Each and every time a lunatic with a gun gets near our must vulnerable, our children and their caretakers I am heartsick and then my fury grows until it is boundless and unrestrained. I do not know where this ends, only that it must.

I am glad your friend and all the children are safe. Glad for you, that you did not have to feel the loss of a friend. Glad for the families, that they did not have to feel the hole in their hearts and souls. Glad for yet another community, that they did not have to mourn or become yet another name on the roster of communities to be held in contempt by our nation.

    • Thank you. I’m glad too. Although it’s happened sporadically, I can’t imagine losing anyone that way. Terrible that teachers are having to think strategically on something like this.

  6. It’s a complicated issue, Tots. Not one thing to blame. But one thing I know–guns are gloried and efficient. You can kill people with knives, but less of them, you you have to get close. You’ll feel the effects of your violence. Guns make violence less personal.
