The Best Candidates for 2016

Happy Spring

What a nice, quiet day. So nice and quiet, in fact, I began singing the Zippety Do Dah song in my head. I also taught myself  how to create an animated gif, which you can see above. I know. It drove me crazy too as I typed this post. I was going for something else that had nothing to do with making a gif and got a little frustrated. Maybe next time, I’ll do one of Barbara Walters doing a farewell yackety-yack on The View and dedicate it to Elyse, over at Fifty-Four and a Half. She loves herself some Baba. Giggle, giggle. Or better yet, I can make a gif  of Oprah giving me two of all her favorite things or even much better yet, her writing me a check.

Anyhow, I’ve been checking the news out and reading a bit and see that Ben Carson, the pediatric neurosurgeon, may run for president in a coupla years. He’s even left his job at John Hopkins ’cause he’s been speaking all over the country and whatnot. Said he’d only run if God called him to and since everybody’s taking a liking to him, why, this is the sign he’s been needing to confirm God’s word. I reckon that’s how churches are built up too.

Hillary may run but my auntie said Hillary’s too far in age to be president. My thing with Hillary is she’s got herself a temper. And she’s a woman. After watching Scandal, I’m not real sure. But we’ll see. Bill would make a good First Lady though ’cause while he was getting stimulated during his presidency, that trickled into the economy so I may have to give Hillary some real thought. We may have to put up with Chris Christie, who likes to vent in public when folk, particularly the press, pose relevant questions to him. I’d like to see him run though ’cause he’s kinda interesting.

Though personally, I think Ernie and Burt from Sesame Street would make good candidates. What do you think?

This is Totsy, reporting the evening news. And this is a hot mess off the press, folks. I need you to sit down and put your feet up for this.

Over the weekend, I learned there’s a church down here that worships Beyonce. So far, only 203 women folk have joined. No men yet but if somebody can think of such foolishness, then a man may wind up giving his life over to Beyonce too. Should you men folk decide to uproot and head thisaway to join up, you will have to give up your manhood. I don’t know what all that entails and being a news reporter, I can’t tell you which way to think. I reckon that means wearing a Single Ladies’ outfit with heels and shooting videos. I don’t rightly know, so I’ll leave it up to you to ask. I also recognize some men folk wouldn’t mind this sorta thing atall, so go for what you know or don’t.

Now, should you decide on confessing your love for Divine Diva Bey, as she’s called in this church, your denomination is Beyism, not Foolishism or Crapism, okay? You’re just as legitimate as Scientology, I reckon and I ain’t judging. This is as real as toe jam. Check the link out for yourself.

Thank you for tuning in to the ridiculousness I find myself reporting to you today. I just thought you should know if your soul is on the lost-and-don’t-know-if-it’s-gonna-be-found side. Know that your restless spirit has a place at the International Church of Foolery, I mean, Beyonce.

Sincerely, Beatrice: The Trailer

I’m currently trying to catch up with myself. It’s a busy time, like any other time really, and I’ve been down with a cold. I’m trying to get into the swing of things and while in bed, I was able to put together Beatrice’s trailer for the summer comics series, which I’m very much behind on. My goal is to ultimately star Beatrice in her own literary work, so I get to toy around with ideas here. In the trailer, you’ll see some images are old and new, kinda like a flashback and flash forward type of movement with black and white sketches. If you’d like to know more about Beatrice, check out her posts here

Well, my energy’s zapped after writing this, folks. In the meantime, I’ll attempt to upload the video on the sidebar so you can put it on your calendar to tune in on time. I know you’ve been waiting your whole life for something like this. And oh, close the door tight on your way out.

New Work from the Gallerie

Finally, I’m able to present new work. Being that I’ve struggled with oil pastel for awhile, I thought this was worth showing. And since the holidays are quickly approaching, I won’t bog you down with a lotta chit chat. I will say that I hope you enjoy time with your family, no matter what you’re celebrating. I wish you good health today and on into the new year.

It wasn’t a bad day at all, folks. I’m real glad about that. However, I ended it with a bang. Literally. I don’t know how I managed to do that but I found a way.

It started with the banners. There are musicians painted on them from different countries and whatnot. Well, they had to be hung from the ceiling. The ceiling has tiles and paper clips were unfolded to hook to the banners and…well, you know what I’m saying, so I’m not wasting my breath with that.

Well, in order to get to the ceiling, one has to have a ladder, right? Matter of fact, I had two ladders ’cause I had somebody helping me. I’m on one ladder, he’s on the other. He’s holding one end of the banner and I’m holding the other to hang. Okay. We’re moving right along and by the third banner, things start to go awry.

All I can tell you is I must’ve leaned too hard. I had to. And to be real honest, it happened so fast, I can’t rightly recall. One moment, I’m reaching to hang the darn banner, next thing I know, I find myself moving swiftly from the ladder and looking toward the floor. As in falling, folks. It happened fast and slow, simultaneously. My hand reached out to the fella on the other ladder ’cause I’m trying to save myself. But God was on his side and the devil on mine, folks. I must’ve caught shortarmitis ’cause I couldn’t reach him. Somewhere in the back of my mind, I’m thinking Your ass is about to meet the floor. And meet it, I did, folks. I must’ve done something right tough, ’cause all I had was a little soreness to my shoulder. I guess I fell on it. I can’t rightly remember that either. What I do recall is seeing the fella on the ladder as I kept falling, falling and blam!

To add to it, I had more than a dozen folks as my audience. They were concerned and all, asking me if I was alright, which I was and am. I can’t rightly tell you how those banners are coming down but you can best believe it won’t happen by way of me being on a ladder. Okay?

We’re Off to the Races, Folks

Now that both conventions are over, we’re on the campaign trails of President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney. I, ladies and gentleman folks, have been invited to participate in a PBS special, Race 2012, by Monica Medina of Monica’s Tangled Web. I’m so excited about this invitation ’cause it gives me a creative opportunity to write and compose new art applicable to a pivotal time in our history. Thank you again, Monica.

With that said, I hope you’ll join me for a series of posts, starting October 2 and each Tuesday thereafter, leading to the election as I delve into race and politics in the way that I try to do. Honestly. I’m even considering taking Beatrice from Apt. 7B along with me. I could use the company out here on the trail. As long as she’s not trying to take over, she can hang. Know what I’m saying?

I know folks from other countries occasion this little blog, so you’re more than welcome to hone in. Race and elections aren’t just an American thing, you know. I look forward to your thoughts, whatever they may be. Also, there will be other bloggers and artists joining in, so you’ll get to hear more folk than me. I’ll add links to my Tuesday posts so you won’t be out there in virtual wonderland not knowing where to go after you leave my place. Okay? You won’t need a map or nothing. Just click the link and be on your merry way.

Now. When you do come over to my place, I’ll have some virtual desserts and punch set out. Remember what your mama taught you, folks. Don’t come on an empty stomach trying to gobble up everything in the vicinity. Alright? This is more about feeding your brain anyhow.

I’ll see you good folks around real soon. And shut the door tight on your way out. These flies ain’t no joke down south.
